Defense Firm Anduril Expands SoCal Footprint With $1B Campus

Defense firm Anduril Industries will invest $1 billion to expand its operations in southern California. With headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA, the company plans to build a 1.1 million-square-foot campus in the communities of Long Beach and Lakewood. Anduril stated the expansion is aimed at supporting its long-term growth and to meet demand from the U.S. military and allied partners.

Anduril’s new Long Beach campus will comprise six buildings, combining 750,000 square feet of office space with 435,000 square feet of industrial space for research and development. The facility is expected to come online in mid-2027. The campus is located approximately 30 minutes from Anduril’s Costa Mesa headquarters and about 90 minutes from the company’s Capistrano test site, allowing teams to design, test, and iterate across locations.

With approximately 7,000 employees across 35 locations, Anduril develops advanced defense technologies, including drones, missiles, robotic submarines and autonomous fighter jets. About half of its employees are based in southern California. The new campus will support approximately 5,500 direct jobs on site. Software engineers will work alongside hardware engineers, flight test teams will collaborate directly with research and development specialists, and teams will have access to machine shops, testing facilities, and fabrication equipment.

Said Governor Gavin Newsom, “Anduril’s world-class innovation and deep California roots are helping shape the next generation of America’s aerospace and defense industry. With this major investment, they are reinforcing California’s leadership in this critical sector, creating good-paying jobs and strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem.”…
