The need for affordable housing in Riverside County is now so great that there’s not only a waiting list for subsidized housing, but no one can even get on that list any longer. The county has stopped accepting new applications for housing assistance programs, including Section 8, as staff works through more than 140,000 applicants already on the waiting list.
And many of those people will be waiting years for assistance, while some may never get help with housing at all.
