Winter Storm Watch for Riverside County Mountains

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Riverside County Mountains from Monday morning through Thursday morning. Two rounds of heavy snow are expected. The first round on Monday may bring 3–6 inches of snow between 6000–7000 ft and 6–12 inches above 7000 ft. Winds could reach 60–70 mph, especially on the desert slopes. Lighter snow may occur on Tuesday, followed by another round of heavy snow and strong winds from Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Roads, bridges, and overpasses may become slick and dangerous. Visibility could drop below 1/4 mile due to blowing snow, making travel very difficult. Snow levels will start near 6500 ft and may fall to 4000 ft later in the week. Residents should monitor weather updates and prepare for hazardous travel conditions…
