Layoffs loom as CVUSD plans to trim $25.4 million amid deficits

New layoffs are expected as Coachella Valley Unified School District is set to cut 25.4 million from its already slashed budget for next year. The board narrowly approved the move last Thursday, that vote coming after a wave of reductions last year where 42 teachers and dozens of staff were laid off to satisfy a 54 million dollar savings.

While CVUSD has not yet released a finalized count following the board’s amendments, the cuts could impact roughly 20 positions that fall largely among campus support and administrative positions.
