Advocates in California’s Inland Empire are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for a recent spate of brutal attacks against a local wild donkey population.
The reward, put up by nonprofit DonkeyLand, follows months of mysterious injuries and deaths among the donkeys (also known as burros), including several that have been reportedly shot with a bow and arrow. DonkeyLand maintains a rescue center and sanctuary across over 2,000 acres in Riverside County. The attacks have all occurred among the wild, free-roaming donkey population in the region, not among those that live in the sanctuary.
A total of 21 donkeys have been “viciously attacked” since 2025, including 13 so far this year, according to DonkeyLand. Last year, six donkeys were shot with arrows. Most of the injured donkeys did not survive the attacks…
