Stolen LEGO sets, Hot Wheels worth $10,000 recovered in Southern California bust

A 37-year-old man in Riverside County was taken into custody in connection with an organized retail theft ring and being in possession of approximately $10,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

In a news release, officials with the Hemet Police Department said detectives identified Hugo Omar Sanchez-Sanchez as a suspect involved in the theft of large quantities of pricey LEGO sets and other merchandise stolen from local retailers.

During the investigation, detectives said Sanchez was spotted selling the stolen merchandise at a swap meet.

“Further investigation revealed the activity was consistent with an organized retail theft operation,” investigators said in a post to Facebook. Investigators ultimately confirmed that the suspect was actively purchasing stolen goods from multiple individuals and reselling them for profit.”…
