1 killed in crash with Southern California Edison truck

One person was killed in a two-car crash between a Toyota Prius and a Southern California Edison utility truck pulling a wooden electrical pole in Riverside County Friday.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Menifee Road, north of McLaughlin Road in Menifee, according to the Menifee Police Department. The 54-year-old Prius driver suffered severe injuries in the crash. Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

“Preliminary findings indicate the Southern California Edison utility truck was making a left turn from the driveway of the Edison substation located on Menifee Road while the Toyota Prius was traveling northbound on Menifee Road,” Menifee PD said. “A collision then occurred between the Toyota Prius and the utility truck, and the Toyota Prius subsequently struck the wooden electrical pole being pulled by the truck.”

The drivers are not suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Menifee PD…
