CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After a marathon council meeting that stretched from Tuesday morning until 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, Corpus Christi City Council voted 7-2 to postpone a decision on the Inner Harbor Seawater Desalination Treatment Plant until Sept. 1, giving council members additional time to review environmental concerns and other issues surrounding the controversial project.
Mayor Paulette Guajardo and At-Large Councilman Roland Barrera cast the only votes against delaying the item.
The action postpones consideration of a proposed $78.6 million design-build contract that would authorize final design work, development of a demonstration plant and continued work toward a guaranteed maximum price for the project, currently estimated at approximately $978.77 million…
