Celebrating 20 Years of Brewster Street Icehouse in Corpus Christi

In the summer of 2006, William Durrill opened Brewster Street Icehouse in downtown Corpus Christi, transforming a former warehouse near Whataburger Field into a place where great food, live music, and family fun could come together under one roof. Inspired by his own young family, he envisioned a gathering place where parents could relax, kids could play, and visitors of all ages would feel welcome.

Today, Brewster Street is one of Corpus Christi’s most beloved gathering places. As the restaurant celebrates its 20th anniversary, we look back at the vision that started it all and the impact it continues to have on the Coastal Bend.

The story of Brewster Street begins long before the first burger was served, or the first concert took the stage. For years, the Durrill family invested in the SEA District, owning warehouse properties throughout an area that would eventually become one of downtown Corpus Christi’s most active entertainment hubs. After the opening of Concrete Street Amphitheater and the construction of Whataburger Field, William saw an opportunity to create something that downtown was missing…
