St. Paul fears what’s happening underground while Beeville prepares for what’s coming next

As communities across the Coastal Bend continue working to secure reliable water supplies, leaders in St. Paul and Beeville are taking steps to prepare for future demand while keeping a close eye on long-term water availability.

In St. Paul, construction is underway on a new water tower that will replace the city’s aging 50,000-gallon tower built in 1968. The new 75,000-gallon tower carries a price tag of just over $1 million.

St. Paul Water Supply Corporation Board President Mark Janota said the project is needed to support growth in the area, but concerns remain about protecting their source of water, the evangeline aquifer, from the City of Corpus Christi’s plan to pump tens of millions of gallons of water from there…
