The Corpus Christi entertainment venue that last year snubbed prolific personal injury attorney Thomas J. Henry over renaming rights is about to undergo a massive overhaul.
The Hilliard Center, which was renamed from the American Bank Center last September, is set to undergo more than $4 million in renovations, according to documents obtained by MySA. The revamp of the 22-year-old entertainment and event center situated along the water in Corpus Christi’s downtown, will include upgrades to its second-floor concourse, guest suites, club lounge and restrooms.
City building officials say the venue shows significant signs of wear and “no longer meet(s) modern industry standards for accessibility, efficiency, or guest experience.” In June, the Corpus Christi City Council approved up to $4,055,702 to overhaul the popular event venue, modernize amenities, improve ADA accessibility, and replace what City Manager Peter Zanoni called aging but “critical building systems” in a June 23 memo to the council…
