CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas state troopers made 59 arrests and conducted more than 2,600 traffic stops during the first month of a traffic enforcement initiative along State Highway 361, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The SH 361 Initiative began Aug. 23, with troopers focusing on traffic violations and unsafe driving along the highway.
DPS released the results from Aug. 23 through Sept. 23, showing that speeding was a major concern during the operation. During the first month, troopers reported: 2,648 traffic stops, 596 citations issued, 1,979 warnings issued, 254 speeding tickets, 1,181 speeding warnings, 59 arrests, and 14 DWI arrests…
