Corpus Christi, Texas – Alonso Guerrero Garcia, a 40-year-old known member of the Mexican Mafia, has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm and kidnapping. U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani made the announcement following Garcia’s guilty plea on November 3, 2023.

U.S. District Judge David S. Morales ordered Garcia to serve 120 months in prison, immediately followed by three years of supervised release. The court heard that Garcia had used the firearm to abduct two individuals at gunpoint before his capture.

Garcia’s arrest stemmed from an incident on June 3, 2023, when authorities conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving the wrong way at high speed down a one-way street. Garcia was found in the rear seat of the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered a Springfield Armory Champion 9mm pistol with distinctive gold grips and Aztec markings hidden under the driver’s seat. Photographs of Garcia holding the unique firearm were also discovered.
