Rosendo Adame, 59, exudes Mustang Pride when he becomes the iconic ‘Blue Man’, a self-proclaimed Ingleside High School athletics cheerleader who had become a fixture in the stands at home games for decades up until last year. An independent painting contractor, he fell 10-feet off a ladder working on a house on Ave. A in mid-December, suffering a debilitating injury. With no medical insurance, his medical bills are mounting, and he’s been ordered to stay off his feet for the next half year. Ingleside’s Church of the New Testament, where Adame prays, is trying to come up with a fundraising plan to ease his financial burdens.

All his adult life, Rosendo Adame has been cheating death. Like many Americans he’s gone about daily tasks without medical insurance coverage, hoping the day would never come when he needed it. But, as fate would have it, he was beset by tragedy on December 14th when he was 10 feet off the ground, painting the exterior of a home on Ave. A. The Ingleside native fell from an aluminum ladder that collapsed, hurtling him to the ground. He ripped open a gash in his left leg, wide enough that blood poured out, and he could see his own flesh. The elderly client he’d been working for helped bandage the wound as best he could. Adame, who knew he had no way to pay for medical treatment, limped away and refused to see a doctor for weeks. His decision literally nearly cost him a leg to stand on.
