‘End of Legacy’: Popular Dance School Closing Hits Community Hard

Cinderella School of Dance opened a studio in this now vacant building on Main St. in Ingleside that helped young children throughout the area realize their dreams of performing. But sadly, it closed January 17th after the owner retired.

Many childhood dreams have been fulfilled in a nondescript building on Main St. (FM 1069) in Ingleside that, over many years, attracted youth from Aransas Pass, Ingleside, and Ingleside on the Bay. Some who enrolled in the Cinderella Gymnastics Cheerleading & Dance School may have even been part of teams that won national awards. All of that will be just memories, now, after the owner retired in January and closed the school for good.

Dubbed an ‘End of a Legacy!’ on the company’s Facebook page (https:// www.facebook.com/cinderelladancegymcheeringle-side ), the owner detailed the school’s storied past and offered a fond farewell to those who once entered its doors.

“In 1973, two sisters, Orene Ehlers Custer, and Bobye Ehlers Farrier, opened Cinderella School of Dance in Corpus Christi not realizing how successful it would be. Over the years, branch studios were opened in Mathis, Sinton, Rockport, Annaville, Portland, Orange Grove, Alice, Calallen and Ingleside. The Corpus Christi and Ingleside studios remained open throughout the years,” the owners began.
