Sadly, despite clear and sunny skies, a pet adoption drive held by Ingleside Animal Control on Saturday, January 27th, had only two visitors and no adoptions reported Police Chief Tammy Burr. Still at its temporary shelter on Hwy. 361, five dogs remain at the facility, two that have been housed there since last August. On a positive note, the canine census has been down considerably since the first of the year, some animals successfully reunited with their owners. With current conditions at the shelter, no cats can be housed and the dogs that are kept here are caged most of the time, their sad faces, wagging tails, and frequent barks demanding attention the small staff of three city employees do their best to give them until or unless they can be adopted out. As of the weekend, Festus, Shadow, Dotty, Thumper, and Jaeger are still available. To plan to come for a visit or to inquire about adoptions, call (361) 776-2531.
