From now until March 3rd, Girl Scouts nationwide are selling baked treats that have become a yearly favorite, featuring such items as ‘Thin Mints’, and ‘Caramel deLites’, to name just a few. That’s kept 14-year-old Gretchen Canon busy. The Ingleside on the Bay resident has set up a table inside McV’s Convenience at 1297 Main St. Canon, known affectionately as the “Cookie Queen” for setting annual sales records of Girl Scout Cookies hopes to sell 7,279 boxes. As of late last week, she had sold 1,426. Members of Girl Scout Daisies Troop 9849 can be found outside Jalapeno’s Mexican Bar & Grill at 2144 Hwy. 361 in Ingleside. Evonne Shipp is the Daisy Troop leader. Her kids (left to right) Bentley, Rosalie, and Ellie have enjoyed the support of Edgar, the restaurant manager, who let them set up this table. There’s plenty of time to get your fill of Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, crispy cookies layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolaty coating, Adventurefuls, indulgent brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored crème with a hint of sea salt, or Toffee-tastic, rich, buttery cookies with sweet, crunchy toffee bits that are also gluten free.
