CYPRESS — Two Corpus Christi ISD boys wrestlers earned bronze at the UIL State Wrestling Championships on Saturday at the Berry Center.
King’s Isaiah Deleon finished third in the 106-pound weight class, defeating Dallas Wilson’s Jacob Barrilleaux by an 8-1 decision in the third-place match.
Veterans Memorial’s Aidan Rodriguez also finished third, topping Lubbock High’s Jaxon Russell in a 7-4 decision.
Five other boys and girls wrestlers from CCISD also earned places in the top six at the state meet this weekend.
On the boys side, Veterans Memorial’s Luis Vela finished sixth at 113, Ray’s Cole Ramirez was fifth at 157 and Veterans Memorial’s Alexander Marcotte was sixth at 175.
On the girls side, Carroll’s Genevieve Bellino finished fourth in 114 and Leah Cisneros ended up in fifth spot at 120.
