Tornado Risk Returns to the Dakotas and Nebraska This Eve, Hurricane Beryl to Spare Texas its Wrath

Comfortably Warm Day in NYC, Heat & PM Storms Late Week

Good late morning everyone. We have ourselves a really nice day in the Northeast as heat rages on elsewhere. That heat will be returning late in the week, but for now, you can enjoy comfortably warm air until Thursday. Thursday’s heat and humidity increase, will also come with the chance of some scattered PM storms each day with the help of sunshine working the atmosphere and a drying front sagging across the Great Lakes region.

That front will also help save Texas and Louisiana from the brunt of Hurricane Berly due to the lack of poor timing. As Beryl nears Jamaica and the Yucatan of Mexico, our front is too far back to play a role as far as steering currents. High pressure dominating over the Southeast and acting as a heat pump for continued hot conditions, will also help suppress Beryl well to the south and right into the core of the Yucatan.

This will weaken Beryl enough where it won’t play a major role as it exits into the Bay of Campeche. Eventually, some of Beryl’s moisture will get drawn northward, but scattered heavy rain and gusty winds will be the maximum impact across parts of south Texas. That being said, Beryl is still a very powerful and dangerous hurricane as it continues to deepen. Winds are now at 140mph and movement remains WNW at 20mph. Even if Beryl just brushes Jamaica, we are expecting a tough go over there. We will also see the Yucatan take a massive hit at the hands of Hurricane Beryl.
