Winds are now down to 115mph at the time of this article and further weakening is expected, especially & obviously after making landfall near the Quintana Roo region of Mexico. The bad news is that after weakening to a tropical storm, Hurricane Beryl is expected to regain hurricane strength. There’s more to it though, and the stage is set for major flooding for the Texas coast. Regardless of whether Beryl regains its hurricane status or not, areas such as South Padre Island and Corpus Christi will be on the “wrong” side of the storm.
