Man arrested in Sunday killing on Corpus Christi’s Southside

A man was arrested after Corpus Christi police said he fatally shot another man at a home on the Southside early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched at about 2:10 a.m. to the 5000 block of Moultrie Drive in reference to a shooting with injuries.

They arrived to find the victim had died from injuries suffered from a gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division arrived on scene to investigate. Their preliminary investigation found that the victim and the shooter, 34-year-old Cody Ramos, were arguing over property when Ramos pulled out a gun and shot the man.

Ramos was arrested on suspicion of murder and transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Police said the incident is not a random act of violence because the victim and the offender knew each other.
