Free screening Friday of ‘Chasing the Tide’ documentary episodes

A free screening of part of a documentary series following a trek along Texas’ 370-mile coastline is scheduled for Friday evening at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

The event will feature two episodes from recent PBS series “Chasing the Tide,” as well as a question-and-answer panel with the film’s director Jay Kleberg and representatives of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies and angler organization FlatsWorthy.

The six-part documentary series follows Chrissy and Jay Kleberg as they walk across the barrier islands of Texas over the course of 21 days.

The journey covered 370 miles, from the Louisiana border to the Rio Grande, documenting the landscape and ecosystems and featuring individuals, organizations and government agencies committed to preserving the natural heritage, including voices from the Coastal Bend.

The community screening event will take place Friday at the Performing Arts Center at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the screening beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be a Q&A from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
