Aransas Pass VFW receives replacement for lost aircraft

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in Aransas Pass recently received a monumental gift, one whose value the City of Aransas Pass believes goes beyond a simple gift.

On May 8, the city announced that its VFW Post 2932 received a Huey H1 helicopter from the U.S. Army Aviation Museum and Training Support Facility in Fort Novosel, Alabama. According to the city, the helicopter was sent to replace the aircraft that Post 2932 lost during the events of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

The aircraft, the city said, will be restored and mounted on its pedestal in the coming weeks, with the helicopter serving as a testament and remembrance of those who have served in the United States military…
