Corpus Christi appeals to governor’s office for emergency permits to drill up to 10 water wells

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi is asking the governor’s office and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for emergency permits to drill additional water wells along the Nueces River.

The city is already drilling five wells intended to pump water back into the river, which then flows to the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant.

The goal is to produce up to 10 million gallons of water a day from these wells…
