Thomas J. Henry accuses Corpus Christi city officials of bias on venue naming rights

The Texas-based lawyer Thomas J. Henry is taking on the Corpus Christi City Council for “standing in the way” as the new naming rights holder for the city’s largest multipurpose venue center, currently named the American Bank Center.

Last year, Henry offered the city $12.5 million over 10 years to put its name on the building. Also in local politics, Henry financed an unsuccessful campaign last fall to oust incumbent Mayor Paulette Guajardo.

“His support allowed then-councilmember Michael Hunter to close the gap against Guajardo in the runoff election significantly, but Guajardo narrowly prevailed,” according to local reporting, 3NEWS…
