Federal funding uncertainty threatens HIV/STI screenings at Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation may soon be forced to scale back its HIV and STI screenings due to recent pauses in federal funding.

The organization provides essential services—often free to the public—but says it is now in limbo after two critical grants were either paused or placed in jeopardy.

The nonprofit relies on two major grants: one from the Texas Department of State Health Services, which has been on hold since May 31, and another from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that is up for renewal on July 1.
