With a prayer of thanksgiving and a surge of community spirit, the Community Shop officially opened its doors on June 26 in its newly renovated location at 210 East Cornwall St. The event drew a crowd of eager shoppers and dedicated volunteers, many of whom have supported the nonprofit for years.
Volunteers, both longtime and new, welcomed a line of 43 customers who had gathered before opening. Shoppers praised the store’s clean, organized layout and quality merchandise offered at reasonable prices. Many expressed appreciation for the store’s mission, with several asking about the Community Shop’s grant programs and whether proceeds from purchases support local nonprofits.
“We are simply your neighbors, helping our neighbors, through a circle of giving that strengthens and supports our community,” said Tess Sauthier, a spokesperson for the organization. “We are grateful and humbled that we can once again serve our mission of ‘Giving Back to Those Who Give to Us.’”…
