Taft ISD addressing HB 1481 mandate

Taft Independent School District is preparing to enforce a new Texas law that will restrict student use of personal communication devices during the school day, beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.

In a statement released July 14 on the district’s Facebook page, Taft ISD officials confirmed they are developing a written policy in compliance with House Bill 1481, which was recently signed into law. The law requires school districts across the state to curb distractions in classrooms by limiting the use of cell phones and other personal devices.
