Diocese names Dr. Rebecca Hammel to lead Corpus Christi’s Catholic schools

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Diocese of Corpus Christi has appointed Dr. Rebecca Hammel as the new superintendent of its 13 Catholic schools, the diocese announced this week.

Hammel, who previously oversaw more than two dozen Catholic schools in the Diocese of Dallas, brings years of educational leadership to the role. Though new to the area, she said her priorities are already firmly in place: strengthening faith, supporting families, and expanding access to Catholic education through tools like Education Savings Accounts.

“My vision for the Catholic schools here would just be to ensure we have academic excellence and grounded faith formation for all of our students,” Hammel said. “And to be of service to our families who choose to have a Catholic education and understand that our schools are very unique and special.”…
