CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On the grounds of the Nueces County Jail annex, a group of inmates is turning their time behind bars into something more productive, and now, profitable.
The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office gives inmates the opportunity to learn woodworking and craftsmanship. The program teaches incarcerated individuals how to build everything from planter boxes and birdhouses to porch swings, all largely from discarded shipping pallets.
