Espinoza accepts plea deal in 2024 Welder shooting case

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A major development in the case surrounding the March 2024 shooting death of 22-year-old Kristopher Welder: Francisco Espinoza, the man once facing murder charges, has accepted a plea deal.

Espinoza pleaded guilty to deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm, avoiding a murder trial. Under the agreement, he received 10 years of deferred adjudication and 10 years of probation.
