CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Parents dropping students off at the new Hamlin Middle School this week saw sprinklers running across the campus lawn, a rare sight under the city’s current water restrictions.
The Corpus Christi Independent School District is completing landscaping for the newly opened campus, one of the final steps in finishing the facility. The watering is part of a special exemption granted by the city.
City Manager Peter Zanoni said the policy allows limited watering for new construction projects. “We do allow variants for new construction, whether it’s a commercial facility like Hamlin school or residential property. You can apply to the city for a 30-day exemption to be able to establish new landscaping,” Zanoni said…
