Construction on Everhart Road and SPID begins Monday

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Construction on water line improvements at South Padre Island Drive and Everhart Road is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 25.

The work will be completed in three phases with an estimated completion date of March 2026, according to the city. The project is part of a $29.3 million reconstruction of Everhart Road from SPID to Alameda Street. About $3.4 million of that total is designated for replacing aging infrastructure and connecting upgraded water lines.

During the first phase of work:

  • Northbound Everhart Road will close between Corona Drive and SPID, with traffic redirected to Corona Drive.
  • Left turns from the eastbound SPID frontage road to northbound Everhart Road will not be permitted.
  • U-turns will be prohibited from the westbound SPID frontage road at Everhart Road.

Traffic signs and detours will be posted in the area, and access to businesses will remain open throughout construction…
