VICTORIA, Texas- On this day, eight years ago, a destructive and long-remembered major hurricane made landfall in the Crossroads.
On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall along the Texas coast bringing devastating winds, flooding, and even tropical tornadoes. Since 1970, Hurricane Celia was the only other Category 4 hurricane to make landfall in the region before Harvey.
The storm hit Rockport the hardest, with the eye-wall passing directly over the coastal city. Roofs were ripped from buildings and many structures collapsed in the area with the infrastructure of the city left crippled…
