Portland residents complain of speeders after DPS suspends patrols on New Harbor Bridge

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A couple of weeks after Texas Department of Public Safety removed full-time patrols between Portland and the Old Harbor Bridge, some drivers said they’re concerned about safety.

They’re seeing drivers speeding and driving recklessly on the New Harbor Bridge. It has many wondering what local law enforcement is doing to ensure road safety considering DPS says speeding is the leading cause of fatal crashes in Texas.
