Corpus Christi approves vacant building registration fee program

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — While desalination dominated Tuesday’s Corpus Christi City Council meeting, leaders also took up another major issue — what to do about vacant buildings.

Council members passed a motion to create a vacant building registration fee, a program city leaders said will help preserve police and fire resources frequently called to these properties.
