The longest cable-stayed bridge in Texas is now open in Corpus Christi—and the countdown to demolish the old Harbor Bridge has begun.
With traffic rerouted to the sleek new structure, crews are moving in to start tearing down the aging icon by beginning equipment staging this month. The main span is expected to be lowered this fall, which will temporarily close the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. Full demolition is expected to wrap up by late spring.
