BAYSIDE, Texas — The town of Bayside will hold a celebration Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. to mark the 150th anniversary of its iconic landmark, the John Wood Mansion, which survived near destruction by Hurricane Harvey.
Built in 1875, the historic mansion was severely damaged by the Category 4 hurricane, which turned the proud structure into a parallelogram.
Thanks to a grant and private donations secured by the Bayside Historical Society, the mansion was painstakingly straightened over several months. The mansion now has a new owner, San Antonio contractor and businessman Jon Breeden. Breeden plans to transform the mansion into a multifaceted venue…
