When COVID-19 sent many people back to their hometowns, Rockport native Carissa Horalek saw it as an opportunity to reconnect with her roots and build something new. A third-generation Rockporter, Horalek grew up here before moving to Austin, where she built a career in medical and holistic aesthetics. However, after moving home in 2020, she discovered her calling in combining both worlds to create TÓRA Skin & Wellness, a downtown Rockport business specializing in corrective and rejuvenating skincare.
“At first, I felt like moving back was a step backward,” she admitted. “But now, as an entrepreneur and mom, it feels amazing. My grandparents and my dad were small business owners here, and it’s special to carry that tradition forward.”
