CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, one Corpus Christi family is keeping mariachi music alive and passing it down from one generation to the next.
Inside the Rivera home, heritage comes alive through song. Jesus and Maria Rivera, along with their five children, make up Mariachi Nuevo Viajero.
“I’ve had such the greatest memories I can think of playing mariachi while I was growing up and I wanted to share that with them,” Jesus Rivera said. “And I wanted to be able to sit down at my dinner table later on and talk about all the crazy things that happened you know during our musical performances I just really wanted them to have those memories.”…
