CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast guardsmen in South Padre Island and Corpus Christi detained four men on September 22nd after illegally fishing 450 pounds of red snapper in federal waters off southern Texas, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
In a press release on Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard said crews detected a lancha with four men engaging in illegal fishing north of the Maritime Boundary Line in the Gulf of America.
Upon questioning, they found the fish, fishing gear, and other equipment in the lancha. Coast Guardsmen detained the men and transferred them to U.S. Homeland Security Investigations personnel for processing at the Coast Guard Station South Padre Island…
