Rockport High School Art Club creates community mural

The Rockport High School Art Club is leaving its mark on the community with a colorful new mural at Quilly’s Big Fish and RV Park, a project that brought together students, teachers, and local business owners.

The mural project began when park manager Keith Stewart and his wife, Danelle, reached out to art instructor Simone Roberts about giving students an opportunity to take on large-scale public artwork. Roberts, in her first year sponsoring the Art Club, presented the idea to her students, who embraced the challenge despite the long hours and heat.

“They came up with the design, chose the colors, created a work schedule, and really took ownership of the project,” Roberts said. “All they needed was the opportunity.”…
