A man has been found guilty of assaulting correctional officers with the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office and been sentenced to more than 99 years in prison, according to San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera.
On Oct. 17, Rivera announced that 31-year-old Kelvin Dawe has been found guilty of assaulting correctional officers with the SPCSO while in custody in the San Patricio County Jail in May 2024. The jury him sentenced him to 99 years in prison for attacking a senior correctional officer plus 10 and five more years for two additional jailers who were also assaulted during the incident, according to Rivera.
Dawe had initially been arrested by the Ingleside Police Department in April 2023 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Rivera said, and was later indicted on that charge. He was being held in the San Patricio County Jail in May 2024 awaiting trial for the initial alleged assault, Rivera said, when he allegedly attacked one of the SPCSO’s senior corrections officer with a shank…
