Wildcats run away from Miller for district title

For nearly two decades, the Gregory-Portland Wildcats have been in search of an outright district championship. And they will have a chance to get just that next week following a big win in their most recent contest.

The Wildcats marched into Buccaneer Stadium and took down Corpus Christi Miller 60-27 on Oct. 31. With the win, Gregory-Portland (8-1, 4-0 district) snagged at least a share of the 14-5A title and now holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Miller. They could clinch the outright title with a win next week.

The Wildcats have not had an outright title since the 2008 season, and not even a share since the 2021 season…
