In a move highlighting the end of an era, the old Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi saw its center span lowered after serving the community for over six decades. This milestone was approached with mixed emotions by residents who watched the demolition of the familiar structure. The central piece of the bridge was taken down on October 30, after several delays due to weather, signifying a literal and figurative disconnection of a longstanding community link.

Meanwhile, in Cedar Creek, TxDOT’s expansion efforts were underlined by the groundbreaking of the $58.5 million SH 71 overpass project at Tucker Hill Lane. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to remove traffic signals on State Highway 71 to facilitate signal-free travel between Austin and Houston.
