Islanders brace for bridge maintenance on JFK Causeway amid lane closures

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This week, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began routine maintenance on three bridges along the JFK Causeway.

According to TxDOT spokesperson Rickey Dailey, the project includes work on the Humble Channel, West Laguna Madre and East Relief Channel bridges. That means the roadwork will stretch from Aquarius Street to the Flour Bluff exit.

Starting in December, Dailey said contractors will begin work on the travel lanes at the Humble Bridge, or midsection. The work will lead to daytime single-lane closures, starting with the westbound outside lane, then the inside lane, before switching to the eastbound outside and inside lanes…
