TIRZ dollars could be used for old Nueces County Courthouse demo, according to Commissioner Pusley

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County leaders are looking at a special tax district fund as a possible way to help pay for demolishing the old county courthouse.

County Precinct 1 Commissioner Mike Pusley said part of the demolition cost could come from the TIRZ 3 fund. According to financial documents obtained by 3NEWS, that fund has just over $8 million in it, a balance Pusley said could support the project without putting a large strain on the account.

“The TIRZ fund balances now are well within the ability to fund that,” Pusley said. “And what we said is we won’t ask the TIRZ to fund pay all of that in one year. We will spread it out over a three-year period of time.”…
