CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Holiday shoppers are already out in full force ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but experts warn some of the bargains splashed across ads and storefronts may not be as generous as they appear.
Chip Lupo, a writer and analyst with WalletHub, said retailers often rely on bold advertising to give the illusion of deep holiday savings.
“They’ll advertise these huge markdowns, but what we found is about 36% of the items this year show no significant savings at all compared to their pre–Black Friday prices, which means that it’s going to be really hard to find those true deals,” Lupo said…
