CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B is alerting customers to a new online scam circulating on Facebook that falsely promises a large gift card or shopping spree in exchange for clicking a link or sharing it through Facebook Messenger.
The company said it is not running any giveaways on Facebook and urged customers to avoid engaging with the posts. H-E-B added that while it regularly reports suspicious campaigns, scammers adapt quickly and often impersonate trusted brands.
“We are aware of an online scam that is promising customers a large gift card or shopping spree at H-E-B if they click a link or share it within Facebook messenger.,” the company posted on it’s official Facebook page. “H-E-B does not currently have any giveaways running on Facebook.”…
