State funding boosts Corpus Christi water projects as Inner Harbor desal plan returns

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Water officials delivered a busy slate of updates to the City Council on Tuesday, outlining progress on several major water supply projects as the region continues working against a November 2026 curtailment deadline.

The presentation included updates on the potential Evangeline Aquifer project in San Patricio County, the possibility of new groundwater wells in western Nueces County near Driscoll, an expansion of the Mary Rhodes Pipeline and the return of the Inner Harbor desalination project with a new contractor.
